Soundsticks offer a novel way to divide space while reducing ambient noise in public spaces or open plan workspaces. Available in linear, radial, and clustered configurations, Soundsticks are a modular ceiling-mounted solution that can be hung at any height to complement seating areas or tables of variable heights. The linear and radial configurations are suspended from extruded aluminum tracks which can be combined in many different ways to create “rooms within rooms” thereby offering maximum planning flexibility for architects or interior designers. Collaborative meeting spaces, waiting areas, or private work-study spots are just some of the spaces that can easily be created with Soundsticks.

Soundsticks are the result of a multi-year collaboration between Offecct and New York-based designer Andrea Ruggiero. The project evolved through many informal discussions and various attempts at exploring new ways of addressing acoustics in today’s environments, and was driven by Offecct’s interest in expanding beyond its pioneering and renowned Soundwave acoustic tiles. Soundsticks have excellent sound absorbing characteristics, having been tested and certified by the leading independent Swedish acoustic authority.

Soundsticks exemplify Offecct’s commitment to responsible design: Each stick consists of upcycled material left over from Offecct’s furniture production, making Soundsticks an exceptionally sustainable and ‘wasteless’ product. The structure consists of sound-absorbing acoustic felt molded into the shape of a tube which is held together by a fabric cover. The fabric covers are made from upholstery scraps which are collected during Offecct’s upholstery production, resulting in a random palette of colours. End caps are die cast in recycled aluminum and are completely reusable and recyclable.
