Kashima is a 1970s icon (originally released in 1976) designed by Michel Ducaroy and lovingly nicknamed the “comfortable Chesterfield”.

Generously shaped, it is all-foam seating characterized by its rounded and curved lines – newly reissued by Ligne Roset. Inviting classic “English” comfort into interiors, with integrated, hidden, armrests, lumbar support, and headrests.

Although this is a classic design, it is full of whimsy, as expressed through its wavy appearance and quilted nature.

The user sinks into the nest-like dips, supported by dense, high-quality foam, for which Ligne Roset is known. The density of a foam is the only guarantee of longevity, and the denser the foam is, the longer the seat will last.

The back was intentionally designed to be thicker than the usual sofa, to provide the sitter with ultimate back support. It also actively counteracts any potential seat deformation. Kashima is the most technically elaborate all-foam seating that Ligne Roset offers – it has four densities of foam, clad in a layer of polyester quilting for its frame.

The seat cover, itself, is also quilted with a layer of polyester foam, providing a double surface comfort. Kashima is sturdy and firm, yet soft and luxurious “English” comfort.

Kashima is available in five sizes: Medium settee, Large settee, Medium 1-armed settee, Large 1-armed settee, and Small footstool. It is available in over 300 upholstery color options in 23 material styles including leathers, wools, microfibers, and more.
